Strong and healthy neighborhoods benefit everyone. Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln has worked to make our whole community healthier by organizing, sponsoring, and co-hosting an annual wellness event, Streets Alive! that celebrates active, healthy living. Streets Alive! fills the streets with free health resources, join-in fitness and sports demos, music, dance, art, and fresh healthy food in a festival atmosphere that welcomes thousands of people each year. Streets Alive! brings together nonprofits from all over the city, to line nearly two miles of streets in a Lincoln neighborhood that serves as cohost.
Streets Alive! encourages people to be active by walking, running, biking, propelling a wheelchair, or skating their way through a nearly two-mile route to visit nonprofit exhibitors who offer free health and wellness information, education, and health screenings. From 2011 - 2023, Streets Alive! moved to a new neighborhood every two years, working to continuously provide outreach to the neighborhoods most in need. In 2020, Streets Alive! moved on-line temporarily in response to the pandemic, but returned to the neighborhoods with health precautions the following year.
Streets Alive! is on hiatus in 2024 to give us time to refresh, reinvent, and reimagine the festival. Change is good!
